sandals for walking and light. They provide tremendous support, with the plant being stiff enough to walk comfortably on the rocks. They are not super-stable on the foot, so they can roll a bit and feet can slide forward on descents stiff but not uncomfortable. I did lots of hiking in the rain with them during a week in Ireland. My feet remained surprisingly dry, despite the large openings. When they get wet (with fine wool socks), they dried much faster than they would in closed shoes. Keen website says they run a little low, but in my case, my usual size gave the best fit with thin socks or bare feet. At first they were easy to tighten. Once they broke in, that was fast, maybe faster to get wet, they were great.
